Fosfomycin-tromethamine long-term oral therapy

This is a retrospective study of 15 difficult-to-treat Prostatitis Treatment (previous failure, side effects, or resistance to ciprofloxacin and cotrimoxazole) chronic bacterial prostatitis patients (5 with multi-drug resistant Enterobacteriaceae [MDRE]) receiving fosfomycin-tromethamine 3g/48-72h for 6 weeks.

After a median follow-up of 20 months Prostatitis , Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome 7 (47%) had clinical response and 8 (53%) persistent microbiological eradication; 4/5 patients with MDRE isolates achieved eradication. There were no side effects. Fosfomycin-tromethamine may be a possible Chronic Prostatitis alternative therapy inBPH .
